Cork City has a population of 208,669 according to the latest census and, among those, 82,199 people with an ability to speak the Irish language.
Gael-Taca has been appointed as the lead organisation for the language planning process in the city and at present a language plan is being drafted to add to the use of the Irish language and to increase the amount of services in the city that are available through the medium of Irish.
