Loughrea

Loughrea town is situated in east County Galway and had a population of 6,394 at the time of the 2016 census. Also according to the census there 2,358 people who have some ability in the Irish language and 72 people (or 1.18% of the population) who use the Irish language on a daily basis outside of the education system. The Irish language community in the neighbourhood of Loughrea has been extremely active since 1999. Since then, Gaelscoileanna, naíonraí and youth clubs have been established in the town and in towns in the surrounding area.
