A Language Planning Workshop was recently organised by Foras na Gaeilge in Athlone. We welcomed Language Planning Officers and representatives from lead-organisations in Irish Language Networks and from Gaeltacht Service Towns outside the Gaeltacht.
Updates were given on various schemes and upcoming events, and several presentations were made on a range of topics. In addition, the participants took part in a facilitated discussion on many of the questions relating to the implementation of Irish language plans.
Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, Language Planning Officer with Fís an Phobail, shared a case study on the progress being made in West Belfast.
Muireann Ní Dhroigneáin from Oireachtas na Gaeilge gave a presentation on the assistance schemes that are available through the organisation for the arts and, in particular, for language-based arts. More information about these schemes can be found here.
We would like to offer our thanks to the staff of the Hodson Bay Hotel for their assistance and hospitality.
