A series of public meetings are to be held throughout September in order to inform the public about the beginning of the language planning process in certain towns.

The towns of Athboy and Navan in County Meath and Macroom in County Cork have all been identified as towns that could receive recognition as Gaeltacht Service Towns under the Gaeltacht Act 2012 and these meetings will share information on the steps that need to be taken in order to draft a language plan for the area, gain approval and achieve this recognition.

Navan: Wednesday 7th September, 7.00pm, Newgrange Hotel

Athboy: Thursday 8th September, 7.00pm, Darnley Lodge Hotel

Macroom: Wednesday 28th September, 7.00pm, Castle Hotel

In each town, a steering committee and lead organisation will be appointed to steer the language planning process in the town and to ensure that the entire community has an opportunity to input into the language planning process.

All are welcome to attend these public meetings, to find out more about the language planning process and to ask questions about what this could mean for the town. If you would like to find out more information about these meetings you can do so by emailing questions to unishabhaois@forasnagaeilge.ie or by calling 087 406 6898.
